The relationship between sound and picture moving image
is that it makes it more appealing to the audience as they can hear and see the
action. For this film it’s important for the sound and moving image to match as
it is a car racing action film, if they didn’t it wouldn’t be sound effective
especially with all the sound of the engines. 2 fast 2 furious has a variation
of diegetic sound throughout the film such as the voices of the characters,
music that is both on and off screen and also the sound made from the objects
in the film such as the cars wheels and the revving of the engine. For the film
there are about 17 songs for the soundtrack as well as tempos and beats, which
built up suspense.
Full house is another example of one that diegetic sound
as they have voices of the characters, sounds made by objects in the scene and
they also have music. The sound is found on
screen, however they do have some non-diegetic that is represented coming
from the source outside the story place, such as the laughing and clapping in
the background the audience. This gives the effect that the storyline and the
jokes are funny. The sound pitch is varied in different kinds of levels as the
actors have different voice pitches.
For this handheld video, all the or most of the sound is
diegetic with a range of different levels from obviously all the different
people speaking in the video, the range level changes from high to low from
different people.
For this YouTube video most of the sound is diegetic
sound as they two people are talking with a range of different levels. Music is
also found in the video, just for an introduction which is off screen.
The princess and
the frog is an animation, that using non-diegetic sound as they have sort of a
narrative, mood music and sound affect made for dramatic affect for the film.
They also used real life sounds such as the click of the heels and the crying
scenes. They also have 17 songs on a soundtrack that goes with the film, as
they are played in the film. It is important for the animation and the sound
have to match up perfectly otherwise they don’t have much of an effect on the audience.
